Announcing the arrival of....Austin Thomas Sayman

Scott and I are pleased to annouce the arrival of our healthy baby boy. Austin Thomas was born on 8/27/08 at 7:38pm weighing in at 7lbs 14 oz and 20.5 inches. Austin was a week early and I couldn't image actually going another week, I was definitely ready to have this baby. I was very lucky and had a pretty easy delivery. Scott was wonderful during the whole delivery (he's great at feeding ice chips) and no he didn't pass out. He actually cut the umbilical cord :) Our stay at the hospital wasn't too bad, but I do have to admint, those hospital beds are not comforatable and the food, ugh!! Thank the lord for Chick fila and for our wonderful friends who brought us food.

Orioles/Royals 5/8/08
Allie scored us some tickets for last night's game. We had great seats and parking spot. We parked about 25 yards from the entrance.

The new HD scoreboard in CF is worth the price of admission. It was incredible filled with information and easy to read. I would love to play a game of Madden on there and crush the Giants behind the powerful running of Ronnie Brown.
Our seats were right behind home plate 6 rows off the field.
And the best part of the night was Markakis, or as Allie likes to say "Your Husband", going yard. So he's my favorite Oriole since Cal. He's fun to watch, a great player, and hopefully he will be an Oriole for many years.
The Orioles won 4-1. One down and two more to go for me. I'm going again tonight and Saturday night. The Tracy's are flying in for this one. Tonight Mike and I are going and tomorrow Cashdollar, Mike, Allie and I are going.

Are You Ready for some Football?
Ripken is. One of her favorite games is chasing the football, then keep away and finally catch. Today, we started our Organized Team Activities (OTA's) working on our quickness:

Then avoiding the tackle:
and lastly the catching drills:
Now we just need to work on her endurance.

Interesting Thursday

Thursday started off great with working from home and then heading to the golf course for a quick 9 in my golf league. It was a rough outing hitting with 20-30 MPH winds as a set of thunderstorms was heading our way. By the time I got home, the storms were just about upon our house. Within an hour, the sirens were going off in Spring Hill because of a tornado warning. The sirens ended up going off twice that night as two different thunderstorm passed directly by us with the possibilities of producing tornadoes. I thought I did pretty well for the first time having to react to the sirens. I didn't pull a George Castanza when a fire started in the over at a kids birthday party. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueh_1PeJhaQ&feature=related) We calmly and quickly gathered the animals and headed for the basement. We were all safe and not much damage was done by our house but some others were not as lucky as we were. Missouri and Arkansas were hit hard by the line of storms that passed our house.

Active One
Last night, I (Scott) was able to feel the baby move for the first time. Allie was lying in bed and I was able to see and feel the little one kick. It was just a little movement in her belly but it was definitely the baby. It was awesome.

It's a Boy!!
We went for our sonogram today and it took MAYBE 20 seconds to discover that we are having a boy! He definitely was not shy about showing off the family jewels. Scott is a very proud papa!! It looks like the due date is anywhere from August 28th to September 3rd. Here are some pictures of our baby boy. Enjoy!

National Champions!!!
What can I say?!! That game was awesome. I'll be honest, I defintely had my doubts when KU was down by 9 with 2 minutes left to go...but the missed free throws by Memphis, and Super Mario's miracle 3 that sent the game into OT, you couldn't have asked for a better finish. Of course, KU dominated in OT..it was the Jayhawks time to shine!!! The stars were definitely aligned for the Jayhawks. When they won it back in '88 the tourney started in Omaha then onto Detroit and then to KC...just like this year, except we ended up in San Antonio. Also, the same ref who did the '88 game, was part of the officials from last nights game! What more could we ask for!!!
Also, just to note, Roy Williams was in the KU section last night cheering for the Jayhawks and he was even sporting a KU sticker!! Even though he left us for UNC, I still like Roy!!
To quote our good friend Cashdollar, "I don't know what rocks and chalk have to do with it, but Go KU!!! :) Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!
Here is a link to the history of the Rock Chalk Chant. FYI, Mt.Oread is the "hill" the KU sits on.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Go KU!!

Finally the Jayhawks are headed back to the Final Four. Luckily a last minute 3 by Davidson was off and the buzzer sounded, sweet music to my ears!! I"m happy to report that I have AT LEAST one more game to see "Super Mario" in action. KU will play North Carolina, which is the match up every Jayhawk fan has been waiting for since Roy Williams left Kansas 5 years ago!! For all you Jayhawk fans out there, I hope that you will be cheering loud on Saturday night!!!

1st Blog Ever

Not sure what to write, but this will entail the lives of me (Scott), Allie (my wife), Ripken (our bulldog), our cat (Sneakers), and shortly a new member of the family. Today we went and heard the heartbeat of our child for the 1st time today. The kid is already money, 164 beats per minute. Perfect the doctor said. It was real before that we were about to become 1st time parents but today it was "Wow, that's my child". We are both excited for the newest member of our family but our pets have no idea what is coming.
Sneakers is a regular cat that is black and has white paws that looks like she is wearing sneakers. However, her most distinctive feature is her "Hitler" mustache. She has a little black mustache that covers only half of her mouth. She used to be the queen of the house and roam where ever she wanted until Ripken came along.
Ripken is an English bulldog that was named after my childhood idol, Cal Ripken Jr. Ripken loves to be around people and enjoys just laying around and sleeping. She is in need of constant attention and loves to chase around her sister.
